Three NBA Teams Will Stop Staying At Trump Hotels This Season
The Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies, and Dallas Mavericks have distanced themselves from Trump-branded hotels.
At least three NBA teams - including the Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies, and Dallas Mavericks - have stopped staying at Donald Trump's hotels in New York City and Chicago this season in order to distance themselves from the president-elect, ESPN reports.
Sources told ESPN stayed at the Trump International Tower and Hotel in Chicago during a preseason match-up against the Bulls, but have made other arrangements for their upcoming regular season games in Chicago. Sources close to the Grizzlies and Mavericks have also decided to stay at other hotels in New York City this season. During the election, Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry and Mavericks owner Mark Cuban both came out in support of Hillary Clinton.
In the week following the presidential election, NBA coaches Stan Van Gundy, Steve Kerr, and Gregg Popovich all shared their displeasure at the results of the election. According to ESPN, another Eastern Conference team has opted to switch hotels once their contract with the Trump SoHo expires, citing the Trump association as the reason.
