As nominations for this year's upcoming BET Hip-Hop Awards arrived earlier this week, The network also announced on Wednesday that it will honor Lil Wayne with the show's ’I Am Hip Hop’ Award, Billboard reports.
The award is the latest in a series of positive Lil Wayne news this year. Earlier this summer, Wayne was freed from his Cash Money contract after after financial disputes which date back to before 2014. Elsewhere, Weezy's label Young Money announced earlier this week that his highly awaited Carter V album will finally release this fall — dropping the album's cover art.
The BET Hip-Hop Awards are set to take place on October 16 in Miami Beach, and wil be hosted by DeRay Davis. Drake and Cardi B lead all artists with 11 and 10 award nominations respectively.
