LÉON returns with “Baby Don’t Talk”

The first single off her long-awaited debut album.

LÉON is underrated. That's not to say the Swedish singer isn't appreciated or hasn't found a highly dedicated following, but I think she deserves more. She's best known for her 2015 hit "Tired of Talking" and delivered her stunning Surround Me EP in 2017, since taking a bit of time to finish her long-awaited debut album. I've been anxious to hear what other great songs she has up her sleeve, and today on The FADER we're premiering “Baby Don’t Talk,” the first taste from that project. It's a sweet song with a arms-in-the-air chorus that belongs on the radio, ASAP.

Speaking over the phone from her house in Stockholm, she explained how the song came together. "I was in L.A. when I wrote it and I was going to work with these three guys, [production team] Captain Cuts, I was a bit nervous," she said. "I always get a bit nervous when I'm going to write with new people. They're so great and we're all in relationships and we started talking about how when you're in the nude and your partner keeps on talking, you don't want to kill the mood. When you've gotten kind of comfortable...I don't want to give too much away but it's like...don't talk for once [laughs]. Just don't ruin this moment. I have another song called "Tired of Talking" and I don't want people to think I'm constantly telling my partner to shut up [laughs] This is a different song because usually I write about more serious stuff. This all just happened super fast."

Putting together this song, and her forthcoming project, was an exercise in trusting her gut. "I kind of took this year into really honing in on a sound I had in my head," she said. "It's hard to get in a session with people and find that sound that has a silver lining. I now feel very at home with what I'm going to put out. I've worked very hard on these songs."
