Chris Brown reportedly released from custody in France as investigation continues

The singer has denied accusations of rape brought against him by a French woman.

Chris Brown has been released by French authorities without bail and is free to leave the country, according to reports from the Associated Press and TMZ. The R&B artist and two associates were detained on Tuesday after he was accused of rape, a charge Brown denies.

In a statement to TMZ, the Paris prosecutor's office said that despite Brown's release, the allegations will continue to be investigated. "The investigations, which are not closed at this stage, will continue under the authority of the Paris prosecutor's office."

The accuser filed a complaint on Monday reportedly claiming to have been assaulted by Brown on January 15 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Paris. Brown strongly denied the allegations in an Instagram posted soon after his reported release. He called them "SO DISPRESPECTFUL [sic] AND IS AGAINST MY CHARACTER AND MORALS!!!!!"
