The Super Bowl is right round the corner and the brands who can afford the famously expensive ad space are starting to roll out their commercials for the occasion. Pepsi are among those going big for the event and have hired Cardi B to star in their ad. A preview, in which Cardi holds a bedazzled Pepsi can, can be seen above. The full ad will also star Lil Jon and Steve Carrell.
Cardi B appeared in Amazon's Super Bowl commercial in 2018. This year, however, anything Super Bowl-related is much more political. A number of artists, including Rihanna and Cardi herself, reportedly declined offers to perform at the half-time show.
That honor has been handed to Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Big Boi. Fans of the artists, as well as Colin Kaepernick, have voiced their opposition to the planned appearance. Pepsi has been the Super Bowl halftime showhow sponsor since 2013 in a multi-million dollar deal.
The Super Bowl LIII airs on February 3 and will be contested by New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams.
