Last week we told you how Ghostface Killah absolutely, undeniably ruled his headlining spot at our party at SXSW (text messages were sent using the term "life-changing"), but that gig came in the midst of a cross-country tour that has brought the Iron Man to exotic locales including Indianapolis and Des Moines. Before the Starks Express flips a U back towards New York, last night Ghostface played a show at the House Of Blues in Hollywood. The performance also came on the eve of the release of his supreme new album Fishscale. Like his set in Austin, it was short on new material (our dude, we all already know the words to "Be Easy" and "Kilo", just go for it) and packed with career-spanning album cuts that made the crowd go nuts. At one point Ghost stood in the middle of the stage and simply, triumphantly stated, "We've got hits." He said this right after finishing "Fish" and just before he started "Biscuits"—not exactly Top 40 fodder, but still classics for those that know. Fishscale is in stores now. The FADER #37 with Ghostface on the cover is on stands. Cop! Consume! Support! Run!
