Jamie xx Ventures Into Ballet With “Pianna”
Tree Of Codes opens July 2 with a score from the producer.
In April, Jamie xx spoke with FADER about writing music for the ballet Tree Of Codes, based on a work by Jonathan Safran Foer. The experience disabused the producer of his previous notions about the art form. "I just thought some people get ballet, and I wouldn't,” he said. “It was very impressive." A snippet of "Pianna," which he composed for the project, can now be heard above in a preview clip.
Jamie has been very busy this year, between finishing up his debut, In Colour, working on music for the National Gallery, and writing for ballet. If you’re in the Manchester area, Tree Of Codes opens on July 2. It comes to New York in September.
