Watch Flesh World’s Punk Home Movie For “The Wild Animals In My Life”
The San Francisco band features members of Brilliant Colors and Limp Wrist.
Flesh World, the band that counts as founding members Jess Scott from jangle-pop crew Brilliant Colors and Scott Moore from queercore icons Limp Wrist, just dropped a new record. Its title track, "The Wild Animals In My Life," is an unkempt but very pretty song, and the 8mm video is similarly unassuming: it may look cobbled together like a home movie, but there's a certain dreamy, experimental quality to the way it was shot, cut, and painstakingly edited. It was filmed up and down California's coast in abandoned churches and on highway overpasses—you know, the sorts of forgotten and out-of-the-way places that punk songs like this tend to conjure in your mind anyway. The Derek Jarman-influenced clip was directed by Roxanne Clifford, who makes grayscale pop of her own in Veronica Falls. The Wild Animals In My Life is out now on Iron Lung Records.
