9 Things That Happened At Young Thug’s Debut UK Show
This is how Thugger makes an entrance 💥
Last night's Young Thug show was unlike anything London has seen for a long time. Headline shows from America's rising hip-hop names are few and far between here, and it's fair to say that Thug's first appearance in the U.K.'s capital city was long overdue (h/t to DJ Semtex for making it happen).
But that delay between Thugger's explosive rise to fame and his first time on a British stage meant that the thirst of last night's crowd was real: the atmosphere in the O2 Academy Islington was hot and heavy, with Thug running through an impressive spread of his bangers (from early crossover hit "Stoner," to Rich Gang's "Lifestyle," wavy Barter 6 tunes, and even a bit of his Jamie xx collaboration "Good Times"). Here's 9 takeaways from the turn-up.
1. U.K. rapper J Hus set the stage alight with "Dem Boy Paigon" during his support slot.
2. Thugger was dressed to go viral.
3. But really his greatest fashion statement of the night was a towel, because ☔︎
4. He started his set by launching straight into "2 Cups Stuffed," "Danny Glover" and "Stoner."
And this is what happens when a crowd of Young Thug fans who have never seen "Danny Glover" live before finally get to see "Danny Glover" live.
5. For a project that some say has no hits, all the Barter 6 tracks went off.
Especially "With That."
