Jimmy Winfrey Pleads Guilty In Lil Wayne Tour Bus Shooting Case
Winfrey faces 10 years in jail and 10 years of probation as part of his plea deal.
Jimmy Winfrey, a former road manager for Young Thug, plead guilty today to six counts of Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Winfrey reportedly turned himself into authorities in June for shooting up Lil Wayne's tour bus in April.
According to a press release from the Cobb County DA's office, "Mr. Winfrey was indicted on 27 counts, including four counts of racketeering, eight counts of Violation of Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, 12 counts of aggravated assault, two counts of criminal damage to property, and one count of possession of a firearm during commission of a felony."
Winfrey was sentenced to "20 years, with 10 years to serve in prison and the rest on probation."
At court this morning in Atlanta, Assitant District Attorney Don Geary told the court, “This defendant is a member of the Bloods street gang. We can prove he was in the Camaro. Whether he was alone, we don’t know. At any rate, he is a party to these crimes.”
The indictment in the case suggests that Winfrey used a cellphone attached to Birdman to speak to Thug after the shooting. Neither Thug or Birdman has been formally accused of any charges by the Cobb County DA. In July, Birdman denied any involvement in the shooting.
