Lushlife, CSLSX, And Killer Mike Present “This Ecstatic Cult”
“The joint takes on the seductive apathy of buying into broken religious, political, and socioeconomic systems.”
This afternoon, radio whisperer Zane Lowe unleashed unto the world a fresh cut off Philly rapper/producer Lushlife's forthcoming album, Ritualize. Co-produced by CSLSX, the track, "This Ecstatic Cult," is a warm wash of electro-funk that makes Lushlife and Killer Mike's paradigm-jiggering verses go down easy.
"This joint takes on the seductive apathy of buying into broken religious, political, and socioeconomic systems," Lushlife explained in an email to The FADER. "Smooth, electro-soul production and a hypnotic chorus from CSLSX counterbalance the class warfare rhymes from Killer Mike and myself."
But, he also pointed out, "Stand back a few feet and it’s just a summertime rap banger."
"This Ecstatic Cult" will be featured on Lushlife's Ritualize, which will also feature appearances from Ariel Pink, Marissa Nadler, and RJD2; it's out February 19 via Western Vinyl.
