Lionlimb Premieres “Domino,” Their Debut Album’s Groovy First Single
The track was partly inspired by Amerie and David Bowie.
On his group's easygoing new single, "Domino," singer-songwriter Stewart Bronaugh serenades over a pleasant melody. Bronaugh and drummer Joshua Jaeger—who both played in Angel Olsen's backing band—make music together as Lionlimb, whose first-ever single we debuted last summer. On March 4th, Bayonet Records will release Shoo, the pair's debut full-length." Domino," debuting below, is backed by a lively collection of instruments, including buttery horns. The result is an airy groove that's further lightened by Bronaugh's breezy vocals.
"The original voice memo of this song just kind of plods along," he told FADER over email, "but when we recorded it we pepped it up and gave these drums breaks inspired by Amerie's "1 thing." I was obsessed with that song. There's also a lyric in there about making it to the church on time, which I totally stole from "Modern Love." I don't know what kind of music we'd be making if David Bowie hadn't ever put out records." In addition to his songwriting skills, Bronaugh is also a visual artist and created some drawings to go along with the song. Check out his art in the "Domino" YouTube stream below.
