Metro Boomin Talks Working With Kanye West And Kendrick Lamar
The beatmaker stopped by BBC Radio 1.
Metro Boomin recently sat down for an interview with BBC’s Benji B and chatted about his contributions to Kanye West’s The Life Of Pablo. “He would just give me different records to mess with,” Metro explained. “The drums in ‘FML,’ I was in the hotel room before I went to the airport. I just had to knock ‘em out before I caught my flight.”
The producer also suggested that he’s been working with Kendrick Lamar. “I never ever really talk about things like this,” he noted, “but we in the U.K. I met Kendrick and we were in the studio. He picked a bunch of beats out; that was great. He’s a great guy—we vibed out for the day.”
Metro attributed his recent success to “prayer, faith, and hard work,” and he described Atlanta as the “the Hollywood for music.” “Any piece of music or album or anything—I don’t care what genre—in the states, a piece of it came through Atlanta somehow.”
