Spotify CEO Says Service Has 30 Million Paying Users
He hopes to expand into previously untapped markets.
President Obama is in the middle of an historic visit to Cuba, and Daniel Ek, who heads Spotify, is excited—this is a country potentially full of future music-streamers. "We have 30 million @Spotify subscribers," he wrote today on Twitter. "But none of them are in Cuba... yet. So cool to see Cuba opening up!"
Spotify reportedly hit 20 million users last summer. Lately the platform has been the subject of several lawsuits related to unpaid royalties.
