Drake Teases New Album With Projections In London
None of the images are the album cover, though.
Update (4/6 4:06 p.m. EST):
The art seen projected above, in London, was art used to "tease the album release." It is "100% not the album artwork," a U.K. rep for Island Records, which distributes Drake's music there, told The FADER. The same rep previously confirmed the projections as official album artwork, as reported below. "Sorry about any miscommunication," they said. Seriously.
Drake season is in full swing. Following this week's drops of "One Dance" and "Pop Style," today the FADER cover star is unveiling artwork for Views From The 6 in London.
At approximately 8:20PM local time, a projection appeared in London's central area of Covent Garden, showing the above image on the side of the Royal Opera House. Island Records has confirmed to The FADER that this is the official cover image for Drake's fourth studio album. It's also the same cover art as his recent single “Summer Sixteen,” but with the colors reversed.
As a self-declared Boy Better Know signee, it's no secret that Drake has respect for London. Even so, the U.K. city's a surprising choice to launch a record that's named after Toronto (where, currently, Popcaan, Skepta and Boi-1da are reported to be). This, along with the fact that there's still no official release date for Views, suggests that Drake's still up to something.
