The Numerators’ “Wastoid” Is A Paranoid Psychedelic Garage Rock Rapture
“Sometimes you find yourself in situations where you’re not sure if you are in a dream or a character in someone else’s demented delusion.”
The Numerators are a chill band started by two brothers (Sammi and Burgers Rana), who sound like The Sonics time traveled to the present to blaze with The Reatards and Thee Oh Sees. The dudes have a new album coming out one month from today, on May 20, called Strange, which the band (Burgers and "all the rest of the Numerator dudes") told The FADER via email "were written in between our time living in New York and Texas. We both love the wild and busy atmosphere Brooklyn provides, but also love soaking in the weird and psychedelic laid back vibes of Austin. Eternally we feel torn, wanting both."
In advance of the release of Strange, they're sharing "Wastoid" with us today. Seems appropriate, considering today is the sacred holiday of all wastoids everywhere. "'Wastoid' is song about feeling freaked out no matter where you are," The Numerators explained. "Sometimes you find yourself in situations where you’re not sure if you are in a dream or a character in someone else’s demented delusion."
