Rihanna Will Open Up The 2016 MTV VMAs With Video Vanguard Performance

The pop star’s Video Vanguard performance will set things off on August 28.

MTV has just announced that Rihanna, who is receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs on Sunday night, will be opening the show with a special performance. Rihanna is also up for two other awards at the 2016 VMAs, including Best Female Video and Best Collaboration for her song “Work.”

Earlier today, Drake congratulated the pop star in a dramatic and public fashion, commissioning a billboard to celebrate the Video Vanguard award. Rihanna responded by posting a screenshot of the billboard with the caption, "When he extra ❤🏆!!!"
