Lyor Cohen Hired As YouTube’s Global Head Of Music
He will run record label 300 until December 5.
YouTube is starting to take steps to become a real player in music streaming. The company just hired record industry legend Lyor Cohen to be their Global Head of Music. According to Recode, the site believes the role will have Cohen acting as a go-between for YouTube with record labels. He will also be overseeing the development of the YouTube Music app.
He will continue to run his record label 300 until December 5. Google became an investor in the company three years ago and will remain one even with Cohen now working for them. Read the entire piece here.
