Pusha T Disusses Clipse Legacy And Voting Rights On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert
He also says that Pharrell was ten minutes away from giving the “Grindin” beat to Jay Z.
Fresh off the campaign trail, Pusha T recently joined Stephen Colbert on The Late Show to discuss the legacy of Clipse, voting rights, the McDonald's jingle, and more. Early on in the interview, Colbert asked Push about the "incredible, iconic" beat behind Clipse's 2002 "Grindin" single. "[Pharrell] told me that if I was not at the studio within 10 minutes to get the beat, he was going to give the beat to Jay Z," Push explained.
Push also detailed what he believes is one of the most dire issues facing Americans: ensuring voting rights for people with prior convictions. "You can't vote, you can't get grants," he told Colbert. "It's like you keep paying forever. We have to change that." Watch the full interview above.
