Listen To Every Single Second Of Tonstartssbandht’s New Psychedelic Odyssey
“Sorcerer” is the first single from the Florida band upcoming eponymous album.
"Sorcerer," the new single from Tonstartssbandht's upcoming eponymous album, their first since 2011, wastes no time reestablishing Andy and Edwin White as psychedelia's most intriguing upstarts. The duo is admired by fans for their ability to surf different genres and make them uniquely spectral: Lightening Bolt-style thrash, filthy beats, and dusty Pacific folkways recordings are some of the sounds that have been reconfigured with the White brothers's unique and haunting talents for harmonization and melody. (this ability is simmered down to its essence for Eola, Edwin White's solo project of vocal loops).
The nine-and-a-half minute "Sorcerer" steers closer to the band's recent focus on live recordings, like the acclaimed 2014 release Overseas. The band have indicated that the name is inspired by William Friedkin's classic film or its anxious soundtrack by pioneering German electronic group Tangerine Dream. But the jammy guitars on "Sorcerer" are soothing even in their loudest moments, as they form an imperceptible, winding lattice of extra-dimensional rock and roll.
Tonstartssbandht's new album Sorcerer is out March 24, 2017. Preorder it here.
