Ice Choir’s “Amorous In Your Absence” Video Is A Picture-Perfect Nightmare

Kurt Feldman's Ice Choir project is about synth-pop that's equal parts challenging and danceable. In the music video for "Amorous In Your Absence," premiering today on The FADER, Feldman and Jen Goma — Brooklyn bandmates in The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart — co-star in a variety of odd and irresistible advertisements for who-knows-what. There's too much eye-candy to name, but suffice to say it's as neon-streaked and frenetic as the song itself.
The video's director Ethan Young discussed the concept in an email to The FADER. "I set this video in a sort of nightmare commercial photo shoot, directly inspired by the hand-painted photographs of Pierre et Gilles, whose glistening, saturated, surreal aesthetic felt like a natural fit for Ice Choir. I was so excited by the song's clever, surprising and frequently ridiculous production/songwriting techniques, that I knew the video needed to match that approach with its own style of visual precision and dynamic editing/effects. The project was a total DIY effort between Kurt, myself and a generous crew of close friends."
