Local Musician Shot In Armed Robbery In Austin
Michael Sanders has said he believes concert goers are being targeted.
A member of a local Austin band has been shot in an armed robbery. The Austin Chronicle reports Michael Sanders, guitarist in the indie band Löwin, was shot in the shoulder while making his way home from seeing a band play live at the Hotel Vegas venue on Friday night (March 10).
Sanders says he believes the attack, which involved three armed men ambush him near his home, was premeditated and that concert goers in Austin are being targeted. The three masked men were armed with handguns and an AR-15 rifle. He was shot after handing over money and his phone.
“It wasn’t as scary as it was matter of fact and surreal,” Sanders said. “My first thought to myself was ‘Oh my god, he shot me.’ My second thought was realizing that it didn’t hurt as bad as I would have expected. As far as getting shot goes, it was a very clean shooting. I’m fortunate…because they were trying to kill me.”
