Drake’s More Life Gave A Big Streaming Boost To U.K. Artists
After his two features on the playlist, Giggs’s music saw a 146% increase in streams from U.S. subscribers on Spotify over the weekend.
Drake released his More Life playlist project on Saturday evening, just before the Toronto artist's return to London for his fourth performance in the city on his Boy Meets World Tour on Monday night. The playlist project prominently featured U.K. artists — Giggs, Jorja Smith, Skepta, and Sampha — and it seems that More Life gave them a huge streaming boost with U.S. audiences.
According to BBC, streams of Giggs's music by U.S. subscribers increased by 146% over the weekend and after the release of the playlist project. Streams of Skepta's music jumped up 21%, while Jorja Smith saw a gain of 12% in streams on the service. Sampha, who was also featured on Drake's 2013 Nothing Was The Same album, saw no significant surge in U.S. streams.
