Drake’s More Life Was Streamed 89.9m Times In 24 Hours On Apple Music
An Apple rep confirmed the record breaking figures to The FADER.
Drake's More Life was streamed nearly 90m times by Apple Music users following its release on March 18. An Apple spokesperson confirmed that Apple Music recorded 89.9m streams for the project, which was debuted on Beats 1 show OVO Sound Radio over the weekend. This figure gives Drake the Apple Music record for single-day album streams.
"Free Smoke," which opens More Life, was the most streamed individual track, followed by "Passionfruit" and "Portland," which features Travis Scott and Quavo.
The figure of 89.9 million Apple Music streams comes in addition to the 61m More Life streams logged by Spotify in the same period. This figure broke the Spotify record for most first day streams for an album previously held by Ed Sheeran's album, Divide, earlier this month.
More Life has also been tweeted about over 2.5m times since its release. The "playlist-style" project has boosted the streaming figures for its collaborators too, with British artists Giggs, Skepta, and Jorja Smith all benefiting from the global exposure.
