Drake Earned His Seventh No. 1 Album With More Life
The playlist-style project shifted 505,000 equivalent album units in its first week.
Drake's More Life has debuted at No. 1, earning 505,000 equivalent album units in its first week, Billboard reports. The album marks the seventh consecutive No. 1 debut for the rapper. Only Jay Z (13) has more straight chart toppers among hip-hop acts.
A record 257,000 of More Life's sales were driven by streaming equivalent album units. This sum beats the previous record holder for first week album streams, Drake’s Views, which launched with 163,000 streaming equivalent units in 2016. The remaining sales for More Life came from 23,000 track equivalent album units and 226,000 in digital downloads.
As previously reported, Republic Records confirmed that the playlist-project's total first-week figure is around 600 million individual streams across all services worldwide.
