Report: Black Youngsta Turned Himself In To Police In Connection With Young Dolph Shooting
A representative for Blac Youngsta said the warrants were “based on lyrics from rapper Young Dolph’s Bulletproof mixtape.”
According to a report from TMZ, Blac Youngsta turned himself in to police in Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday in connection with a February shooting , that targeted fellow Memphis rapper Young Dolph.
A representative for Blac Youngsta confirmed to The FADER that the rapper had surrendered to police: "Memphis based rap artist Blac Youngsta has turned himself in on charges filed in Charlotte NC. The warrants served were based on lyrics from rapper Young Dolph's Bulletproof mixtape. Youngsta will await arraignment while he maintains innocence and no involvement with the incident."
Blac Youngsta, real name Sammie Marquez Benson, was taken into custody on Tuesday morning and is being charged with three felony counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling/occupied vehicle, according to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office's website. Two other men surrendered to police in connection with the shooting, TMZ reports.
The incident occurred on February 25 while Young Dolph was on his way to a concert in Charlotte. Officials reported that more than 100 rounds had been fired at the vehicle. Dolph, who later said he had spent $300,000 to bulletproof his car prior to the shooting, was unharmed.
Representatives for Blac Youngsta, Young Dolph, and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office were not immediately available for comment.
