Report: Taxstone Plead Guilty To Federal Gun Charges In Irving Plaza Shooting
After pleading guilty to two weapons charges, the Tax Season podcast host faces up to 20 years in prison.
Taxstone, the host of the popular rap podcast "Tax Season," has plead guilty to two federal weapons charges in connection with the 2016 shooting at Irving Plaza, New York Daily News reports. In court on Thursday, Taxstone, real name Daryl Campbell, admitted to possessing a firearm as a felon and receiving a firearm in interstate commerce.
The incident took place prior to a scheduled performance from T.I. at Irving Plaza on May 25, 2016. New York rapper Troy Ave and two others were wounded in the shooting and his bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter, was killed. Troy Ave has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting.
Though he was not charged with murder, according to New York Daily News, the Manhattan U.S. Attorney's office told the judge that Campbell had "fired one shot that killed Ronald McPhatter." He faces up to 20 years in federal prison.
A representative for Taxstone was not immediately available for comment.
