Solange Announces Performance Piece Called “Scales”
It will be a site specific performance at the Chinati Foundation in Texas.
Solange announce a site specific version of her performance piece "Scales" during a special weekend at Chinati Foundation that will be unveiled during the October 8th weekend. Her performance piece will be particularly special given the setting. The Chinati Foundation, located in Marfa, Texas, is a contemporary art museum founded by Donald Judd. Solange accredits Judd with profoundly influencing the way she viewed the world. Judd was a minimalist sculpture artist. The Chinati Foundation is sprawled across 15 acres.
In the first catalog for the catalog for the foundation, Judd wrote:
"Most art is fragile and some should be placed and never moved again. Somewhere a portion of contemporary art has to exist as an example of what the art and its context were meant to be. Somewhere, just as the platinum iridium meter guarantees the tape measure, a strict measure must exist for the art of this time and place."
You can also watch Solange perform at Glastonbury Festival below. Solange will be headlining AfroPunk on August 27.
