Why should I listen?

Dreamcast’s voice is mellow and super velvety, and knows exactly how to ride a rhythm — a skill perhaps best attributed to his experiences playing congas and producing house tracks when he was younger.

The 24-year-old singer's sound is best heard on “Liquid Deep,” an atmospherically groovy track, rooted in a steady drum beat and the kind of funky bassline that makes you tweak your nose just a little bit. On the song, Dreamcast glides into the beat, singing soulfully of time slowing down and making the most of his moments, especially those with a special someone. The hook — “It’s that li-quid deeeep” — is subconsciously-sing-it-aloud addicting, and has brought me back to the song more times than I can count.

In addition to “Liquid Deep,” which was released as a two-track 7’’ released through D.C. label Peoples Potential Unlimited, Dreamcast’s shared a handful of lush tracks over the past year. Most of them have featured production from Swedish producer Sasac, a by-chance collaborator whose funk-based, bass and synth-heavy production has proven a perfect complement to the soulfulness of Dreamcast's voice. Look out for more from him here, and sink into a few of his songs below.

Where should I start?
