Report: Justin Bieber and Skrillex no longer being sued over “Sorry”
White Hinterland musician Casey Dienel is believed to have dropped her legal case.
Last year musician Casey Dienel, a.k.a. White Hinterland, took legal action against Justin Bieber and Skrillex over their single "Sorry." Dienel claimed that the 2015 smash bore a significant resemblance to her 2014 song "Ring The Bell," specifically "characteristics of the female vocal riff.” Co-writers Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, and BloodPop were all named in the lawsuit.
Now TMZ reports that, 18 months later, Dienel has dropped the lawsuit. She was initially asking that Bieber no longer play the song, and pay her an unspecified amount of money. Both Bieber and Skrillex went on record to deny claims they "stole" the song at the time.
The FADER has reached out to Bieber’s and Dienel’s reps for comment.
