Burberry champions LGBTQ charities with new rainbow tartan

“There has never been a more important time to say that in our diversity lies our strength, and our creativity.”

Burberry will forever be linked to its classic tartan print that the company debuted in the 1920s, and as of yesterday, the English fashion house updated the iconic print with rainbow-hued stripes in support of a handful of LGBTQ charities. The new tartan, titled The Rainbow Check, is part of creative director Christopher Bailey’s final collection and will debut at London Fashion Week on February 17.

“My final collection here at Burberry is dedicated to and in support of some of the best and brightest organisations supporting LGBTQ+ youth around the world,” he wrote on the company's Instagram. “There has never been a more important time to say that in our diversity lies our strength, and our creativity.”

In celebration of the rainbow tartan, Burberry made donations to the Albert Kennedy Trust, the Trevor Project, and the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association.
