Shamir debuts “Room,” a bittersweet anthem for homebodies
Stay tuned for a little honky-tonk acoustic moment at the end.
In March, the shape-shifting Philly-via-Las Vegas songwriter known simply as Shamir is putting out a 7-inch featuring a pair of new songs. One of them, called "Room," is debuting above in music video form. It's a homebody anthem with groovy drums, like a DIY take on ’60s girl-group percussion. It also showcases Shamir's charming diction, particularly on the speedily sung verse melodies.
According to an email from Shamir, the track is about "feeling trapped even when there's an opening presented to you, those times you feel stuck and depressed to the point that making it out of bed feels like an impossible feat. 'Room' is a song for those that need that extra push to keep going and take advantage of all the open doors put in your path." Watch above, and stay tuned at the end of the clip for a very Shamir-core Easter egg.
Shamir's "Room" 7-inch comes out in March on Father/Daughter.
