Listen to this lost remix of Slum Village’s “Hold Tight” featuring Q-Tip
The never-before-released remix comes on the 20th anniversary of SV’s Fantastic Vol. 2.
20 years since the release of the legendary Detroit hip-hop collective Slum Village's Fantastic Vol. 2 — which featured many rap power players including Common and J. Dilla — the group has decided to release an alternate version of "Hold Tight" from the album featuring Q-Tip. The updated version includes crisper production as Q-Tip spits his verse over the oozing bass line provided by J. Dilla.
SV, along with their label Ne'Astra Music will release a series of "additional relics" from their catalog with an upcoming project titled The Lost Scrolls Vol. 2. The group also plan to embark on a commemorative 20th anniversary tour this summer in honor of Fantastic Vol. 2, according to a press release, as T3 — who is the only group member still be around since the group's inception, will join Young RJ, who joined SV in 2010.
