Alice Glass shares “Mine” video
Featuring a cameo from Drag Race winner, Violet Chachki.
Alice Glass has released her latest solo single "Mine." The video for the song stars Violet Chachki, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7. Check it out above.
"Mine" was written by Glass alongside Justin Tranter, best known for his work on Justin Bieber's "Sorry." The song's dark lyrics include the line “Abuse myself till I’m finally mine.”
In a statement released to the press, Glass said: “'Mine' is about someone who hurts themselves in an attempt to regain control of of their own life and experiences. It’s a form of self-sacrifice and also an act of personal freedom for someone who feels completely out of control. I do not condone self-harm, but like a lot of my music 'Mine' is about my struggle with coming out of an intensely abusive relationship. In the ritual of hurting myself or taking something from myself I am at the very least in control of that act, when in so many other aspects of my life I felt hopeless.”
Glass's solo career began in 2017, the same year she released her self-titled EP.
She quit Crystal Castles in 2014 and accused former bandmate Ethan Kath of rape in an open letter, posted to her website in October 2017. Kath, who is the focus of a sex crimes investigation by Toronto police, described the allegation as "pure fiction" through an attorney.
