Dizzee Rascal celebrates 15 years of Boy In Da Corner
The landmark grime album was released this month in 2003.
Dizzee Rascal's breakout debut, Boy In Da Corner turned 15 on July 21 and the grime MC marked the occasion with a fitting tribute on Instagram. Speaking about the album that saw the then 17-year-old establish himself, Dizzee explained that he hadn't had chance to reflect on what the record means to him until recently.
"When I made this album there was so much going on that I never actually got to enjoy it or even take in what I’d done I just moved straight on to the next album (Showtime) and travelled the world doing shows," he wrote. "It’s taken a while to actually register how much it means to people because I’m at the center of it and constantly trying to come up with something new but I love that it made so many people feel something and even helped make some people’s lives a little bit better."
He ended the post by promising more will come in the future. "I promise I will be around for another 15 years doing exactly what the fuck I want with music and maybe I’ll make something as good as #boyindacorner again.."
Dizzee Rascal's most recent album, Raskit, was released in 2017.
