Kitten seize the dance floor on their new double single Secrets
A double deliverance of power pop nostalgia from the New York band.
Kitten is on a roll this year. Back in June, the New York power pop crew released their deliciously catchy Pink Champagne EP, and today, they’re back with a new double-single Secrets. The title track is a thunderous, Pat Benatar-level stomper. Frontwoman Chloe Chaidez wails about not wanting to know her lover's secrets with such conviction that, at least in this circumstance, ignorance actually is bliss. The song's B-side, “Mercury,” wraps family trauma in sparkling disco catharsis.
Both songs, as Chaidez explains, have been in the works for a minute and were just recently fully realized. “‘Secrets’ felt ambitious at first, but by embracing the melodrama we were able to see it through,” she says. “Everything fell into place for ‘Mercury’ when I refocused the lyrics on my parents’ divorce and just let it be really personal. We love music that makes you want to dance and cry all at once.”
