Rina Sawayama wants fans with “hard to pronounce” names to contribute to a new campaign
The pop artist is asking fans who frequently have their names mispronounced to record a short video.
Rina Sawayama says her brand new single is "imminent," and the rising pop artist is asking her fans a.k.a. the "pixels" to be a part of its marketing campaign. From a press release shared on Instagram: "Rina Sawayama is asking fans who have names that are considered "hard to pronounce" in English (e.g. Aoife, Nguyen, Niamh) to record a short video about it. If you have people constantly struggling to say your name then this could be YOU."
Selected 45-second videos will appear in a "montage of similar ones from other fans" and shared on social media in the build-up to the release of Sawayama's new song. To be selected, videos must have a recording of the fan saying their name, an example of "a situation where you were made to feel embarrassed about your name," as well as "a time when it has made you feel proud or unique." Videos should be submitted to videos@houseofus.co.uk before 12pm GMT on November 14, 2018.
Sawayama dropped a music video for her most recent single "Cherry" in August. She released her mini-album RINA this year. Read her GEN F interview here.
