Lil Xelly connects with Blak Kray for the “Fishtank” video
A new visual from Xelly’s reXrrdent eVil project.
Continuing his relentless output, Rockville’s Lil Xelly returns with the help of Blak Kray aka Sickboyrari to deliver a visual for “Fishtank,” a high-wired cut that threatens to drag the viewer underwater. The two waste no time in delivering an infectious one-two punch that leaps off the screen with energy. If this song were a buddy cop movie, Xelly would be the aggressor throwing chairs around and flipping tables with a certain calmness to him. Rari follows up the weighty verse by effortlessly inserting himself into the mix with a detached, monotone flow that slides across subdued production in one breath. From the audio alone it feels like both rappers recorded this after crash landing in the Bermuda Triangle.
In the video, which premieres on The FADER today we get to see Xelly and Rari explore an abandoned food market and courtyard. Flexing is kept to a minimum while Moshpit DMV pulls all the strings, alternating between oversaturated, fluorescent frames to more neutral sequences. “Me and Kray came together with two different flows on this. They work out perfectly though.” Lil Xelly told The FADER over the phone. Xelly plans on releasing Xxxrtified Pt. 1 in the near future.
