Watch Charli XCX and Troye Sivan debut new song “2099”
The sequel to their 2018 track “1999” was debuted last week at Charli XCX and Troye Sivan’s Go West Fest.
Last week, Charli XCX and Troye Sivan staged their LGBT+ pride event Go West Fest at LA’s Wiltern Theatre. Named after the Village People track of the same name, the festival was headlined by Troye and Charli, and featured performances by Allie X, Dorian Electra, Pussy Riot, Gia Gunn, and Quay Dash, among others.
At the event, Troye and Charli also took the stage together to perform a new track entitled, according to photos of Charli’s setlist posted online, “2099” — the title, of course, referencing the pair’s most recent collab, “1999.” "2099" is the latest new music in a prolific period for Charli: last month she performed her Christine & the Queens collab "Gone" at Primavera and released "Blame It On Your Love" featuring Lizzo. On Friday, the singer dropped "Dream Glow," with K-pop juggernauts BTS; the week before that, she released the Diplo collab "Spicy," a cover of the Spice Girls' "Wannabe." At the BBC1 Big Weekend she also teased an "experimental" new album due this year. Watch videos of the "2099" performance below.
