Kim Kardashian lobbied Trump to help free A$AP Rocky, at Kanye’s request
Kanye West requested that his wife Kim Kardashian lobby Donald Trump to free A$AP Rocky.
Kim Kardashian has confirmed news that she lobbied Donald Trump to assist with the release of A$AP Rocky from Swedish detention. Earlier today, TMZ reported that Kardashian’s husband Kanye West had urged the reality star to try to ask President Trump to assist in freeing Rocky, who has been held in Sweden for over two weeks after allegedly assaulting a man on the street. Kardashian supposedly contacted Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who took the information to Trump. The TMZ report states that the State Department is now “actively working” to free Rocky.
“Thank you @realDonaldTrump , @SecPompeo, Jared Kushner & everyone involved with the efforts to Free ASAP Rocky & his two friends,” Kardashian wrote when confirming the news. “Your commitment to justice reform is so appreciated”
Last year, Kardashian visited Trump to ask him to grant clemency to Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old who was given a life sentence for a nonviolent drug-related offence. Trump eventually granted clemency to Johnson as a result of Kardashian’s lobbying.
Rocky has been held in Swedish detention since early July. Over 300,000 people have signed a petition asking to free him; meanwhile, supposedly incorrect reports that the conditions of the jail he’s in are inhumane have been refuted by his lawyers.
