Austin duo Black Pumas started out as a studio project for founding member Adrian Quesada before he linked up with busking vocalist Eric Burton — so it makes sense that they come to life when the red light is switched on.

A new video capturing the group as it records the stirring retro-soul ballad "Colors" is premiering above. Recorded at Austin's Arlyn Studio, the song is a highlight from Black Puma's recently-released self-titled debut album.

Speaking to The FADER via email, the band said: "'Colors' was written while the sun was going down on a rooftop in New Mexico. Finding inspiration in the multicolored hues of the night sky. The song is a message of togetherness but there’s awareness of mortality mixed in amongst."

"The band had and opportunity to spend a few days in Austin’s legendary Arlyn Studio," they continued. "While decamped in the sprawling space they decided to run through a handful of songs that had become fine tuned after relentless touring. Our friend Amos David McKay was there to capture that day and we’re extremely thankful he did."
