It might be the height of summer but Oscar season is fast approaching and you can expect the upcoming Harriet Tubman biopic to be in the mix come next February. Cynthia Erivo takes on the title role in Harriet, playing the political activist who escaped slavery and went on to become an abolitionist via the Underground Railroad.
In the Harriet trailer, revealed on Tuesday, we see Harriet's escape from her violent slave master as well as her subsequent return to bring her family with her. Harriet is due in theaters on November 1 and also stars Leslie Odom as William Still plus Janelle Monáe as Marie, who arms and trains Harriet for her return to the home of her former owner.
