Remember, like, a few hours ago, when the first trailer for Janelle Monáe's Harriet Tubman biopic dropped? The Electric Lady is keeping her schedule absolutely stacked, and now she's announced her next project: she'll be assuming her first major television role, starring in the second season of Amazon's series Homecoming. She'll reportedly play a woman who finds herself alone in a canoe, with no recollection of her identity.
Monáe will step into the surreal psych drama in the wake of Julia Roberts's departure. Though Roberts wont star on the show, she'll continue to serve as an executive producer. Deadline reports that Bobby Cannavale, Stephan James, and Hong Chau will each likely return to Homecoming, although only Monáe's role has been confirmed. Besides Harriet and Homecoming, Monáe is due to star in and help soundtrack Disney's Lady and the Tramp remake next year.
