HAIM shares music video for new single “Summer Girl,” directed by Paul Thomas Anderson
The Lou Reed-inspired single is out now.
The sisters HAIM are back. The Los Angeles pop trio have dropped the music video for "Summer Girl," streaming above. Shot in L.A., HAIM are filmed walking down the street shedding articles of clothing till they get down to something summer-appropriate. All the while, they're followed by a guy with a massive saxophone. The clip is helmed by Paul Thomas Anderson (Phantom Thread, There Will Be Blood), who also shot HAIM's videos for “Right Now,” “Night So Long," and “Little of Your Love.”
"Summer Girl" was debuted earlier this month when the group performed the song live in concert for the very first time — before playing the tune, Danielle Haim dedicated the song to Lou Reed, likely a nod to the song's similarity to Reed's "Walk On The Wild Side."
In a press statement, Danielle Haim said she started writing the song after her partner was diagnosed with cancer. “ I was on tour and felt like I was trying to send positive energy his way almost telepathically. Whenever I would come home in between shows I wanted to be his sunshine - his summer when he was feeling dark. His hope when he was feeling hopeless.”
HAIM have been sharing snippets of new songs on Instagram, but an official announcement of a new album hasn't yet arrived. However, the band say they plan on releasing new music "as we're working on it."
