Colin Stetson to score Nicolas Cage’s new sci-fi movie
Color Out of Space premieres next month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Remember when Colin Stetson lent his towering saxophone skills to some of the most traumatic moments of Ari Aster's Hereditary? Yeah, you definitely do. Today, Stetson announced that he's bringing his scoring chops to a new film that premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. It's called Color Out of Space, and it stars Nicolas Cage and Tommy Chong.
Based on the H. P. Lovecraft short story of the same name, the film reportedly centers on a New England family whose home becomes "a hallucinatory prison, as an extraterrestrial organism contaminates the farmstead, infecting everything and everyone it can.” No promises here, but all signs point toward Nic Cage mutating to Stetson's galvanic sax tones. Just imagining that evokes cinematic excellence. In a tweet, Stetson described the film as "madness," so, yeah, get ready.
