Watch BJ The Chicago Kid’s career-spanning Tiny Desk Concert
BJ packed in nine tracks during his soulful seventeen minute NPR set.
BJ The Chicago Kid is the latest artist to swing by the Tiny Desk. While traditionally most NPR office sets run for no more than three or four songs, BJ opted to pack in songs from across his career — nine of them, to be precise, including cuts from his most recent LP 1123. It's an ambitious undertaking, but BJ manages to pull it off in just over 17 minutes, backed by drummer Tony "Rico" Nichols, guitarist Jairus "Jmo" Mozee, bassist Joe Cleveland, keys player Delvin Brumfield, and violinist Peter Lee John. Watch his soulful, miniature takes on "East Side High 2012 & Forever," "Good Luv'n," "Aiight," "Church," "Love Inside," "Turnin' Me Up," "Get Away," "Can't Wait," and "Too Good" above, via NPR.
