Billie Eilish’s debut album was Spotify’s most-streamed album of the year
Followed closely by Post Malone and Ariana Grande.
Spotify has released its data of the most streamed artists, songs and albums of the year, and the figures are very revealing of what captured the world’s attention this year. The most streamed artist in the world in 2019 was Post Malone, closely followed by Billie Eilish at No. 2 and Ariana Grande at No. 3, while Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes’ “Señorita” was the most streamed single of the year. Notably, the most streamed album on Spotify this year was Eilish’s WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?, the young star’s debut album; it beat out Post Malone’s runner-up Hollywood’s Bleeding, Ariana Grande’s thank u, next, and Ed Sheeran’s No. 6 Collaborations Project, which came in at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? was released in March and yielded the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single “bad guy,” as well as the singles “bury a friend,” “wish you were gay,” “when the party’s over,” and “all the good girls go to hell.” Read our 2019 cover story on Eilish here, and the rest of Spotify’s 2019 streaming facts here.
