The first No. 1 album of the 2020s is Harry Styles’ Fine Line
Harry Styles’ sophomore album continues its reign at No. 1
Harry Styles’ sophomore solo record Fine Line continues its reign atop the Billboard 200 album charts this week, meaning that it’s officially the album that will be on the chart’s summit at midnight on New Year’s Day when we enter a new year and a new decade. In 2010, at the beginning of the last decade, Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed A Dream sat atop the summit; the decade before, on January 1st, 2000, it was Celine Dion’s All The Way… A Decade of Song.
Fine Line tallied 89,000 equivalent album units this week, a significant drop from its debut week numbers of 478,000 units, but still enough to hold off competition from runners-up Christmas, by Michael Bublé, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, by Roddy Ricch, and Merry Christmas, by Mariah Carey. Fine Line debuted last week with the third-largest week of 2019. It is his second solo No. 1, after his debut album Harry Styles. Read more about this week’s chart at Billboard.
