Fall into the nightlife with Cakes Da Killa’s “Luv Me Nots” video
Check out the new video from underground legend Cakes Da Killa, “a look at queer nightlife from a more grown & sexy perspective.
It’s been two years since underground legend Cakes Da Killa released his debut album Hedonism, a short but sharp set that showcased the queer hero’s dexterity and versatility across 10 tracks that included collaborations with Calore, Peaches, Rye Rye, and Josh Dst. In the interim, Cakes has teased new collaborations with nightlife heroes like LSDXOXO and Honey Dijon, and finally re-emerged late last year with “Luv Me Nots,” a sleek house track that contemplates the complex feelings that arrive the night after a drunken hookup. Today, we’re premiering the track’s Ohoto-directed video, a neon-lit odyssey of hedonism and sensuality that Cakes describes as “a look at queer nightlife from a more grown & sexy perspective.”
“The setting, a Brooklyn bar lined in neon lights with a dance floor covered in fog is the perfect stage for lusty behavior after the sun goes down,” Cakes continues via email. “This is my first visual in a long time and is a peak into what I’m working on for 2020 for my sophomore album.” Watch the video for “Luv Me Nots” above.
