BTS are just as excited about Parasite’s Best Picture win as you are
The K-pop band enthusiastically congratulated director Bong Joon-Ho on Twitter.
Parasite swept the 2020 Academy Awards last night, securing trophies for Best Director (Bong Joon-Ho), Best International Feature Film, and Best Original Screenplay before making history with its win for Best Picture. The first non-English movie in history to receive the prize, Parasite's triumph was both gratifying for film lovers and deserved for the cast and crew, who made what's already widely regarded as one of the finest Best Picture winners in the history of the Oscars.
Adding to the wave of plaudits and congratulations last night was Korean pop band BTS, who shared photos of director Bong Joon-Ho and star Choi Woo-shik along with a message. Translated by a fan account @btstranslation7, it reads: "Director Bong Joon-Ho, I truly truly truly truly truly truly congratulate you. #WooshikSshi #ISawYouWipeAwayYourTears." As Teen Vogue points out, BTS member V is close friends with Choi Woo-shik, and previously congratulated his friend on Parasite's win at the SAG Awards. Check out the message below:
